Sustainability Guidelines for Shops, Eateries, Experiences & Accommodations: November Sustainability Tip from ecomadic

ecomadic is a curated marketplace for local & sustainable travel featuring accommodations, experiences, shops, and eateries that have sustainable missions in place. In order to assist tourism-related businesses on their sustainability journey, they created Digital Backpacks that are aimed to act as basic guidelines that can be implemented in an effort to advance sustainable business operations. In meeting these criteria, you help support their quest to support local communities, preserve cultural heritage, minimize environmental footprint, and encourage positive visitor experiences through travel.

NYSTIA Sustainability Task Force Member Jaclyn Yost, Founder & CEO at ecomadic, has graciously shared their Digital Backpacks with the NYSTIA community. Follow the links below to view ecomadic's breakdown of sustainability from an environmental, socio-cultural, and economic point of view.

Sustainable Accommodations:

Sustainable accommodations include hotels, hostels, apartments, bed & breakfasts, holiday homes, home-stays, holiday parks & campgrounds, lodges, motels, and more.

Sustainable Eateries:

Eateries include restaurants, cafés, bistros, food trucks, pop-ups, and more. No matter what category an eatery may fall under, every business featured on ecomadic should strive towards sustainable and transparent growth.

Sustainable Experiences:

Sustainable experiences include guided excursions, which highlight food, culture, nature, adventure, education, cruising, and more.

Sustainable Shops:

Sustainable shops are market-driven organizations that use their business presence to address a social, cultural, and/or environmental mission; taking an ordinary business approach and embedding a purposeful goal directly into operations to achieve a more positive impact.
