As of July 2022, the average visitor visa wait-time for the top 10 countries for international travel was more than 440 days. And, while visitation from the 25 largest Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries has improved by an average of 19%, travel from the top 25 countries that require a visitor visa has grown by only 4%.
If nothing is done to lower visa wait-times, international travel to the U.S. will not recover until at least 2025, which is far too long to wait. However, if the State Department can quickly reduce wait-times to less than 30 days, international visitation to the U.S. would accelerate by 2.2 million visitors and $5.2 billion in spending within 6 months.
Please ask your representative to join the bipartisan letter led by Reps. Dina Titus (NV-1) and Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) to Secretary Blinken urging the State Department to take immediate steps to lower visa wait-times.
