Lisa Pellegrino, Client Services Strategist at the Center for EcoTechnology, will speak on the Sustainability Panel on Thursday, April 18th at the 2024 NYS Tourism Conference. Lisa will be giving an overview of the Center of EcoTechnology (CET), food waste, the no-cost technical assistance available to NY businesses and institutions through their Rethink Food Waste NY program.
Why You Should Attend This Session:
- Today's hospitality marketplace is getting increasingly competitive as we bounce back from the pandemic and people are eager to travel again. Travelers are becoming more mindful of the need to have a lower impact on the places they visit, hence the rise in "ecotourism".
- Having a unique value proposition is key. One way to distinguish oneself is by making operations as lean and green as possible, and sharing those ecofriendly practices in marketing efforts.
Key Takeaways:
- Better understanding of the NYS DEC Food Donation & Food Scraps Recycling Law, and the benefits of finding landfill alternatives for food scraps.
- How you can save money by implementing solutions like forming a food rescue partnership, having scraps picked up by local farmers for use of animal feed, composting, and preventing wasted food from happening in the first place.
- How your business can leverage wasted food solutions to attract and retain both new customers and employees.
