- We're thrilled with the participation and support of our partners for the new #NYSWildWednesday and #NYSFoodieFriday initiatives. Since its launch two weeks ago, we have received a high volume of submissions and have seen a boost in user engagement and impressions across all social media platforms.
We have made our best efforts to include and represent a variety of regions across our state, and with member involvement, we have recognized an increase in the public's recognition of the diverse outdoor activities and unique dishes available in NYS. Thank you to all who have taken part in the initiative so far and who plan to participate in the future!
It's unbelievable that we are nearing the end of July, but this series' fun has only just begun. In the Roaming Ahead section, you'll find a list of our August #NYSWildWednesday and #NYSFoodieFriday themes along with a description of each. We encourage you to submit your content to us ahead of time. Our emails can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.
Send Us Your Submissions
Please include only one image and a few sentences about your feature, business, activity, or destination with your submission. This way, we can ensure that the post copy is concise and representative of your destination while adhering to the carousel format.
Of course, if you would like to submit more photos and copy then by all means! We will then choose the most appropriate photo and text to go with the theme.
Congrats to Erie Canal Cyclists!
On Saturday, the cyclists of the 21st Annual Cycle the Erie Canal Bike Tour finished up their 400-mile journey across our state. The Erie Canal is an amazing opportunity for bikers, walkers, and paddlers to take in the natural beauty of New York while exploring the many vibrant communities along the way. We'd like to congratulate all the cyclists for completing this amazing feat and give recognition to those who worked tirelessly to make this event possible.
You can take part in the celebrations by posting about them on social media. Check out their news of note for July/August

Canadian Border Reopening to Vaccinated U.S. Citizens
The Canadian border is finally reopening to vaccinated U.S. citizens for non-essential travel on August 9, 2021. This means that families will be united once again, and a much-needed relief will come to our border communities that depend on cross-border trade and supply chains. You can read Governor Andrew Cuomo's full press release about this exciting news and more here.
Weekly Post Highlight:
Since today's #NYSFoodieFriday theme is all about New York breweries, we're especially in the mood to highlight a great post about a local cold brew!
This quote tweet from Rensselaer County on Twitter caught our eye for not only featuring a mouth-watering IPA, but for also promoting a local brewery and giving followers another reason to Roam The Empire. #ItsHereInRensselaer
Thank you again for your support and participation in the Roam The Empire cause campaign. We have lots of exciting things in store for the upcoming months, so stay turned in to discover what's on the horizon and how you can get your destination involved.
Keep on roaming,
- Alana and Rachele
