Kelly Fay works as a Policy Associate for Airbnb, where she has been a team member since 2015. The Public Policy Team works to connect hosts, government officials and other community stakeholders to find regulatory and community solutions. The team has been focused primarily on securing a statewide framework for short-term rentals in New York, and ensuring tax collection on STR in the state. Currently, Airbnb is working to secure tax collection throughout the state and ensure travel has a strong comeback in the post-pandemic world.
Started in 2008, Airbnb is a community based online marketplace for accommodations which connects hosts directly with prospective guests in hopes of creating a world where you can Belong Anywhere. Since its inception, Airbnb has grown to be an important economic tool for many, enabling hosts to leverage what is typically their greatest expense - their home - to generate supplemental income while providing unique stays to travelers.
Kelly is a lifetime resident of New York state having grown up in Binghamton and studied in New Paltz and Albany. She now resides in Brooklyn. Her interest in state politics blossomed during an internship at the Legislative Gazette in Albany which lead to her current work in Public Policy. She is especially interested in nutrition justice and spends her free time (when there is not a pandemic) enjoying live music.
