Dan Waxman is the account executive for American Road. He helps businesses and organizations grow and achieve their marketing objectives with the use of American Road's sponsored content, contest sponsorships, and print, digital, and broadcast advertising opportunities.
The AMERICAN ROAD® staff collectively boasts more than 100 years in professional travel writing and programming experience. With that record, it’s no small wonder that each issue of AMERICAN ROAD® magazine and AMERICAN ROAD® TRIP TALK (their radio program and syndicated podcast) are packed bumper-to-bumper with “the best of the best” in road-travel stories. When they choose their features, they do so with one goal in mind: to put their audience in the driver’s seat and send them rolling down America’s back roads—to the mom-and-pop cafes, the small towns glowing with neon, and the people and personalities who make each journey worthwhile.
American Road is the ideal place to inspire road trip travelers to experience authentic, intriguing, nostalgic, picturesque, off-the-beaten-path destinations. Listed by Enjoy Travel Life as #1 in the Best Specialty Magazines for Travelers in 2024, there is no better place to promote your travel opportunities.
Dan has over 30 years of publishing, marketing, and advertising experience for his client's successes while staying connected to his entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up in a family Dry Cleaning business He learned a lot about running a business and customer service from working side by side with his Dad and Grandfather at a very early age. After college Dan knew he didn't want to be a Dry Cleaner, and after a few years and several jobs including cook, waiter, musician, and teacher/social worker he chose to be in the publishing and advertising business. He first worked for Yankee Magazine for nearly 13 years, and then at The Boston Globe for 20 years focused on the tourism and hospitality sectors, developing and managing thousands of advertising campaigns. Dan felt one of the most important things he's learned about marketing is that it's a discipline which requires asking great questions and then listening- really listening to the client's needs and objectives. He genuinely enjoys helping businesses and organizations maintain a strong brand identity with key audiences and improving revenue especially during slow seasonal periods by developing high impact campaigns.
What He finds most impressive about American Road is the monumental loyalty of its audiences. Whether its with the magazine, website, podcasts, or radio show - all of the audiences regularly tell their editorial staff how much they enjoy and trust their travel recommendations. American Road has won numerous travel content awards over the past 22 years and has a social influencer KRED rating of 995/1000 in the travel category.
In the past Dan has been a board member of Visit Portland CVB and the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association and education committee member of the Maine Hospitality Assoc. He currently serves as a volunteer for Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence.
During his time out of the office Dan enjoys spending time with his family and his 5 little grand children! He loves playing guitar and piano, listening to music and going to live performances. As well as traveling and hiking with his wife and soulmate of 45 years.
