- Travelers are feeling better off financially than they were one year ago.
- The proportion of Americans who feel it is a "good time" to spend on leisure is only marginally above last year in July.
- Recessionary concerns continue to diminish.
- For the first time under 50% of travelers expect to enter a recession in the next 6 months.
- The proportion of travelers exercising spending caution due to recessionary concerns remains high.
- Traveler Sentiment:
- Travel sentiment remains generally strong, even though travelers are grappling with elevated travel costs.
- The current travel sentiment index was stable in July.
- Excitement to travel remains at near-record highs.
- Elevated travel prices continue to impact travel decision-making.
- 41% say high prices have kept them from traveling this month.
- 32% say that high prices have led them to cancel an upcoming trip.
- Travel sentiment remains generally strong, even though travelers are grappling with elevated travel costs.
- Expectations of travelers for the next 12 months:
- Travelers predict less price gouging and labor shortages, more crowding frustrations and AI being involved in their travel planning.
- TikTok and Podcasts keep rising for how travelers get inspiration for travel, and the travel planning windows keep shrinking.
