Auburn, NY: Proud to Live in Harriet Tubman's Hometown.
The Cayuga County Tourism Office is excited to announce the start of our Pride in Place Campaign in Auburn NY. Our goal is to encourage local Auburnians to show their pride in residing in the chosen hometown of American Hero Harriet Tubman. The bicentennial year of Harriet Tubman's birth presents the perfect time celebrate this abolitionist, Civil War spy, suffragist, and humanitarian's inspirational life and legacy. We interviewed local citizens telling us why they are proud to live in Harriet's hometown. These videos are available to view on our social media channels and website. Yard signs and window/car decals are also avialable for pick up. Signs are free and are available at Seymour Library, Cafe' 108, the Auburn YMCA and at the Equal Rights Heritage Center. The New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center and the City of Auburn's Historic and Cultural Sites Commission and partners are planning a local bicentennial celebration to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Harriet Tubman's birth.
