Feast at the Strong! Immediately Following 2023 NYS Tourism Excellence Awards Ceremony
The team led by Executive Chef Karin Lapusnak at the Strong Museum of Play is excited to offer a wonderfully crafted Rochestrian menu! This menu is chock-full of local ingredients, flair, and favorites from the Rochester region.
FLX Cheese Station:
Featured will be a charcuterie board with bread, olives, fruits, and other accouterments paired with fresh artisan cheeses from the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail creameries: First Light, Old Chantham, Muranda and East Hill Creamery, to name a few.
Locals' Favorites: Highlighting goodies from the Pierogi Guy and Amazing Grains Bakery
Have you heard of the Pierogi Guy? He makes pierogies that are to die for! He called his Grandma K and they have been a staple of Rochester ever since. Chef Karin will add her own twist and even more flavors to these pierogis than there already are: sauteed cheesy spinach pierogies and fried crisp cheddar and potato pierogies, with roasted tomato basil and smoky chipotle aiolis, marinara, caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and parmesan cheese.
On the side will be soft spent grain pretzels from a local bakery and a cheese fondue infused with a cream ale from the Genesee Brewery, with salt bread with whipped butters, boursin cheese, and gorgonzola pate.
Slider Station:
You couldn’t come to Rochester without trying a red hot or a white hot! Zweigles have been making hotdogs since 1880. You also couldn’t come to Rochester without trying the “Meat Sauce” either. Chef Karin plans to take the famous Nick Tahou’s hot meat sauce and create her own “hot” slider with Rochester's own Zweigles with pickles, mustard, ketchup, tomato chutney, and cheese.
Carving Station:
Chicken French* has been a favorite of Rochesterians for years. Chef Karin serving this famous dish with a homemade lemon sherry butter sauce.
Herb-Rubbed Bistro Filet: Dr. Frank Winery makes a beautiful cabernet that will be turned into a demi-glace covering an herb-rubbed bistro filet.
All will be paired with red-skinned mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables.
Dessert Station:
If you have left room for dessert there will be apple crisps with locally grown apples, grape pie, and ice cream from Pittsford Creamery!
