The Board of Directors of the New York State Tourism Industry Association has endorsed the Nominating Committee's proposed board candidate slate. The full slate will be presented to membership at the 2021 Annual Meeting on October 21 at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel for membership vote.
Three candidates would be returning to serve their second full term of office: Kelly Ann Curtin, Executive Vice President for Membership and Destination Services; Heather Bagshaw, Director, Greene County Tourism and Film; and John Percy, President & CEO, Niagara Falls USA.
Two candidates were appointed midterm to fill board vacancies and will be running for their first, full 3-year board term: Joanne Conley, Director, Warren County Tourism and Adirondack Regional Tourism Council; and Stephanie Johnson, Divisional Director of LEGLAND, New York Resort.
Two candidates will be new to the board: Lisa Berger, Director of Ulster County Tourism; and Penny Peters, Tourism Development Manager, Akwesasne Tourism.
In reviewing the candidate slate, Board Chair Josiah Brown noted, "This candidate slate ensures statewide geographic representation, addresses bylaws requirements regarding membership category representation and enhances the diversity of the board. The Nominating Committee has done an outstanding job!"
