Committees

NYSTIA's Committees are open to all members of NYSTIA. Committee meetings are virtual and meet for one hour monthly unless otherwise indicated.

Joining a committee is a great way to connect with fellow tourism professionals, share insights, and collaborate on key initiatives that support and grow New York’s tourism industry. As a member-driven organization, we rely on the expertise and engagement of our members to move the needle forward.

Advocacy Committee

Meeting Date: Second Monday of the Month

The Advocacy Committee supports NYSTIA members by providing access to information, initiatives, and resources at both the state and national level needed to support and defend New York State's tourism industry.

Meeting Date: Last Friday of the Month

The DEAI Committee serves the members of NYSTIA by providing education, information, and resources that support and encourage a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive NYS tourism industry.

Tourism Excellence Awards Committee

Meeting Date: Second Tuesday of the Month

The Tourism Excellence Awards Committee organizes and executes the NYS Tourism Excellence Awards; the premier recognition program for New York State's tourism industry.

Membership Committee

Meeting first Friday each month at 9 AM

The membership committee ensures that NYSTIA fulfills its mission to facilitate member success and pursue the best interests of New York State's tourism industry. Committee members are expected to actively support the NYSTIA staff in fostering membership growth.

Sustainability Task Force

Meeting Date: First Friday of the Month

The Sustainability Task Force looks at current news and trends in sustainability in the industry. Helps develop guidelines and programming for our events, and works to keep sustainability a crucial part in the conversation.

Higher Education Advisory Council

Meeting Date: Third Monday of the Month

The Higher Education Advisory Council convenes our Higher Education institutions that are members of NYSTIA. They distribute the Scholarship application to their students, join in our programming at our events, and attending the NYSSCA events each year to speak on tourism careers.
